800 miliion chicken??
what does it meant?

nuclear is essential in generating power nowadays that all the fossil fuel have start to deplete, besides that nuclear power plant doesn't need a very large space to set up, hence reducing the need to destroy the natural habitats of millions species of flora and fauna.....

3ooo wind turbine? That is alot, and just think about the cost snd space needed for it.
Bt its really amazing to know that just 0.6 tonne tritium can produce the same amount of electricity.
But I do any country using the fusion method to produce electricity?

I read a website saying that fusion power is more safe and it do not produce radioactive waste.
The fuel Deuterium can be extracted from water and tritium is produced from lithium, does that mean fusion power fuel more cheap than fission fuel?
if this is true, fusion power is better.

Hey there. Based on the data, other sources o energy indeed require alot of spaces and resources. 3000 wind turbines and 100km squared of area for solar energy will take away ALOT of spaces and that will be costly to surrounding wildlife during the building process. Same goes to Biomass energy. Besides that biomass will produce greenhouse gases which is bad for the environment. And If we start converting our farmlands and crops for the production of bioalcohol then we will damage the world's food supply on a global scale. Therefore, we need more farmland. Where do we create this new farmland? By converting our natural habitats and green sites.

But these are all the disadvantages of those sources of energy. Their advantages should also be taken in consideration as Nuclear energy has its own disadvantages also.

Thank You.

The strength of wind varies, and an average value for a given location does not alone indicate the amount of energy a wind turbine could produce there. To assess the frequency of wind speeds at a particular location, a probability distribution function is often fit to the observed data. Different locations will have different wind speed distributions. What a fact for wind speed if it at different locations?

thank you for providing us with those statistics. for me, i can compare all those source of energy with nuclear energy and conclude that, it is very obvious why we have to build the nuclear power station in our country.

Very unefficient i can say; to provide 1000 Mwe of energy and 100KM X 100KM of area is needed. Same goes with wind energy as 3000 wind turbines need to be provided; imagine a very large amount of field has to be excavated. In that process lots of our flora and fauna can be badly affected. We gain 1000 MWe of energy but lots of species could be extinct or decreasing.

The last point, Biogas. I am sorry but this would increase the price of chicken nationally; looking at the funny side of it. But this also shows mismanagement if we do not strive for nuclear energy.

A very good information. Thanks

hello...wow....no power plant can produce high energy in small space except nuclear power plant.as we know, nuclear power plant only need small places and very green to environment..so,nuclear energy is the best choice for our country to step up to next level in electricity technology. eventhough the cost very expensive, the capitalize also not bad.If TNB decide to build nuclear power plant in malaysia,i can assure that TNB will become richest company in malaysia in 15 years.on the other hand, we can see the table, other power plant need large area and the energy produce very low.

btw, what the meaning of 800 MILLION chicken?is it the equivalent of the energy generated?

interesting article..with the nuclear powerpalnt,we can save a lot of space and produce a lot of energy with small amount of nuclear fuel.We can save the natural habitat also.I hope we can have nuclear powerplant as soon as possible.

i agree with danial, nuclear plant just need a small space, they are also a green energy that for sure cant harm the people that stay near to the nuclear plant. thus if malaysia can built it, we can save the non-renewable energy source such as coil from being depleted in the future.

Hi there,i would like to suggest something. Why don't if we combine some of the renewable power sources on the nuclear power plant. Like in each of the nuclear power plant,it should have a few wind turbine and solar panel so that we can optimize the production of energy source. It just like if we don't manage to build the other energy sources other than nuclear power source,we should not completely reject it. But we can wisely utilize it.

Salam to all
Alhamdulillah u have juz completed yr exam..What is left now is to have faith in Allah on what ever the results will be...good luck guys..
about this article...it is crystal clear that most power plant requires materials/fuel which is limited to certain condition at a certain time later n are not renewable materials to generate electricity...
as we know solar energy are free to be harvest eternally till the doomsday... off course it takes up a certain area which is almost equivalent as other types of power plant...there are too many buildings, car park spaces n etc which we could utilize these spaces to install solar panel...rather than the buildings or cars gets heated up isn't it better we could harvest through it...its like killing 2 birds with a stone,...

all these types other alternative power source as you put it either takes too much space, too much work or obviously does not produce as much energy as nuclear stations.but with a country with a rather tiny population based on people to land ratio do you think we need to already switch to nuclear power?

Nuclear power can come from the fission of uranium, plutonium or thorium or the fusion of hydrogen into helium. Today it is almost all uranium. The basic energy fact is that the fission of an atom of uranium produces 10 million times the energy produced by the combustion of an atom of carbon from coal. This is indeed surprising fact... wow

Hi..
Maybe we need only a small area to build the nuclear power plan compared to others. After I read some posts, I'm sure Malaysia will use it as the primary electrical generation in the future.
May i know, where is the best place to install the power plant especially in peninsular Malaysia.

Can someone give your own opinion??

hi,in my opinion the best place to install the power plant especially in peninsular Malaysia is in Perlis because if we take a look in the state of Pahang,is still developing area.Furthermore in Perlis there is huge area which are to explorer .By building this power plant in Pahang,it will help to develop the state.

Obviously it is a bad idea to waste so much spaces just to generate certain amount of energy while nuclear power is much more relevent as the alternative for our future, the nuclear power can produce electricity without greenhouse gas emissions and competitive price of electricity produced. Why should we waste spaces for something that not worth.

I think this is very good data.we can know the difference in the raw material with the type of power plant. As we can see, nuclear provide the most efficient power plant and should be the no1 choice for our small country. All type power plant need enormous effort and a lot of space.I suggest our government should speed up their plan to build nuclear energy for our future.

So this data proof that renewable power sources wind and solar power required lots of space. Compare to nuclear power source, it required just a little space for nuclear power plant and also it doesn't produce any green house gases.

The statistics are facts that were deduced based on consumption, but lets not forget the other aspects of nuclear energy, the costs of introducing it into our country. The money needed to train and educate graduates on nuclear is a monumental task that requires billions of ringgit, especially with a country still under development like ours, if it is too much to ask, it would like for you put up the starting costs and compare them i think it would be better. Thank You

p/s: its just a suggestion:)

hye..as i can see from the data, most of the other renewable energy sources consumes lots of space and money..furthermore,to build this stations such as windmills means we are destroying a large part of our plantation area thus disrupting the ecosystem which will leads to other problems.i agree dat malaysia should set their eyes on nuclear energy as an effective source of continous renewable energy dat will benefits the country and its people for a very long time..it is true dat the cost is breathtaking, but the benefits and profits we can get from the tech is beyond out capital..lets support nuclear energy..

Another statistic to support the development of nuclear power plant, as you can see other type of power plant like solar, wind, biomass, bioalcohol and biogas takes up alot of spaces to just produce 1000 MWe for 1 year, but a nuclear power plant would take up lesser place.Don't forget that these power plant has a low or none risk compared to a nuclear power plant due to mining of uranium ore. Everything has it's pros and cons . It's really up to us to whether take the risk or not.

as we can see from the table of the various kind of power plant in malaysia.if we compared it to nuclear power plant the result might be drastic..as we can see we juz need lesser nuclear power plant to porduce such amont of energy from the powerplant we are having in our country now....i think we have to move fast to take step changing or upgrading our power plant.
