The famous equation

E = mc2

So, what is this famous equation by Einstein is all about?
Well, the equation says that matter (m) and energy (E) are two forms of the same thing.
The speed of light (c) which is constant, is an enormous number.
So basically, Einstein's equation shows that a very tiny amount of matter is the same as a huge amount of energy.

The equation is a direct result of Einstein's work on the special theory of relativity.

salam n hye..
starting with this equation which introduce by Einstein, the world start to evolve with the people start creating many things that make human life more easier or suffer. Because of this equation, nuclear have being invented and known as explosive weapon that had kills millions of people around the world. Many people suffer and some of them get some illness because of this nuclear. Hope that someday, nuclear can bring better things in our life. tq.. ^_^

Amazing one guy can create so many theories. Definitely helped the world a lot with his huge brain... Not only this equation, a lot lot more other theories are proved by other scientists during his time and even now still.

Different mass produces different amount of energy when fission occurs. Right? Does a specific element have to be used for a reactor for it to work in the optimum? This equation basically created the 'control of nuclear energy'. Well that's what i think. Good job Einstein.

well done...
he made wonder..

it seems i have heard about there are some massless particle exist...
so how this equation can be used, measure its energy..??? is there any way??

One of Einstein's great insights was to realize that matter and energy are really different forms of the same thing. Matter can be turned into energy, and energy into matter. What makes it interesting is that when the two protons are forced to combine, they don't need as much of their energy (or mass). Two protons stuck together have less mass than two single separate protons! The predictable energy can be calculated using E=mc^2.

Let me just add some info on what kumaran meant by less mass is needed to produce high energy. Lets take an example using hydrogen atom, its a basic atom composed of a single proton. This subatomic particle has a mass of 0.000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 001 672 kg . This as we know is a tiny mass. But in everday matter there are allot of hydrogen atoms1 Lets say in 1Kg of water there are 0.111kg of hydrogen atom. So by actually using einstein's brilliant formula we can get 10,000,000,000,000,000 Joules of energy!!Joule is indeed a small amount of energy, but in this case the amount of hydrogen is only 0.111kg. Just imagine if we used 30 grams of hydrogen atoms!!!itll be equivalent to burning hundreds of thousand of gallons of gasoline!!!!Just wanted to share this awesome fact i thought about!

That indeed was an awesome fact govin. but imagine it rely occuring... now that would stir fear.
E=mc^2 is undoubtly one of the greatest equation ever found where energy is mass multiply with the square of speed of light, Now that is just pure energy. Misuse of this this equation in order to produce tremendous amount of energy could lead to devastation. As quoted with great power comes great responsibility.

this equation remind me on how great are human is and one of them is albert einstein. Einstein's equation even tells us how much of one potentially converts into how much of the other. Because of him,we can solve so many things related to math and physics.

Einstein have created the world most famous and most uses equation. Even with this simple equation, this soon produce a lot of smart engineers and creative architects to make the world a better place to for us to stay and live. Thanks Einstein for making this simple equations.

evrything has pros and cons. It's all depend on your intention. As stated in green lecture series, nuclear is like a hammer, you can hit people, or hit the nails to build houses

Einstein was not the first to propose a mass–energy relationship. However, Einstein was the first scientist to propose the E = mc2 formula and the first to interpret mass–energy equivalence as a fundamental principle that follows from the relativistic symmetries of space and time...

The infamous equation is the most important discovery in our modern life, it is the one that enable us to create the nuclear plant, the same reason it can also be destructive it can mean the end of the human race, the formula, the lifeline of all human race.
